And
guess what, all kinds of drama has erupted..... So to
clarify the the rules here is an update from
UBRT:
I'm only posting once on this
subject.
Some simple rules have been put together for the MORE series to
split the class up a little and are being misinterpreted.
As the Class 1400 goes, it is pretty much an open class. Below are
a few clarifications for the 1450 class and at the very bottom are
the rules as they stand right now:
As far as the 1450 class goes:
1. Must be built utilizing a Factory steel truck cab and
retain factory frame as manufactured. Must have working doors with
factory-type hinges. If truck has rolled in 2005 or 2006 season
with major cab damage, owner has the option (with class approval)
to run a fiberglass cab.
(if you read the part "factory frame as manufactured" it doesn't
say anything about from front to rear nor anything about modifying
the cross members. It might have to read "factory frame rails" and
you may cut and modify as needed. in other words it can't be an
all tube chassis. sometimes you need to cut and modify to accept a
fuel cell or the like.)
2. "Rear suspension of the stock conception for model and
year of truck. Limited to 19" of travel".
(if the truck came with leaf springs, then it needs to be leaf
springs. if you need to modify the mounts to except 62" Deavers,
then do it. in 1967-1972 the 3/4 ton chevy and gmc trucks came
with a link type coil-over rear suspension so that truck would fit
in 1450. just an example)
"Front Suspension is of the stock conception for the
series of model truck".
(if the truck came with A-arm front suspension you may
build or buy after market ones. center link if you want. it
doesn't say anything about location, style or shock mounting type.
just conception. if the truck came with an I-beam front end, it
doesn't say anything about not being able to change and putting on
equal length nor anything about the mounting or location. same
thing with the 4x4 old school leaf front end, you can change to
what ever type of suspension was available on that make of truck
or vice versa. these rules are VERY open.)
032206-In the Class
1450 Pro Modified Trucks, the front suspension now reads "Open" to
accommodate the modified suspension on some of the trucks like the
Toyota's with Beams-UBRT.
Some of you guys are looking at the treads on different web sites
and jumping to conclusion without an open mind of what the rules
really are saying.
All these rules (what 5 rules between two classes) are to just
split the class a little and give a little fairness to the racers.
Leafs vs Links. Most leaf trucks have either a good running 4 cyl
or a V-6 with very little done to them. Most link type trucks have
a good running V-6 or V-8 in them and run much faster lap times.
Last thing, these rules are the
rules of MORE and some reps at MORE has been contacted by
reps from SNORE and they are also looking into adopting them. They
are
not
meant for MDR, SCORE, BITD, CODE or any others.
They have there own set of rules.
